This Sunday Guatemala will celebrate the second round of the elections in which they will elect the president who will be in command of a disappointed population that demonstrates it with high rates of abstention.
The protagonists of these elections are the former first lady Sandra Torres, of the National Unity of Hope (UNE) and the former diplomat Bernardo Arévalo, of the Seed Movement.
This election day is marked by the unexpected rise of Arévalo, who was the surprise of the first electoral round by sneaking into second place when the polls placed him in eighth place. Today, a few hours before the elections, this academic is the favorite to win the presidency of the Central American country thanks to his commitment to combat corruption.
