LUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the secret services to investigate the causes of the helicopter crash which killed 14 people, including Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky.


The cause of the crash on Wednesday morning remains unknown, but Mr Zelensky promised clarification during his evening video address.

He added that Minister Monastyrsky and his deputy, Yevgeny Yenine, would not be “easily replaceable” and said their deaths were “a great loss for the state”. It was announced earlier that Ukrainian police chief Igor Klimenko would temporarily take over as interior minister.

The Interior Minister’s helicopter crashed near a kindergarten in the Kyiv region on Wednesday morning. According to the latest report from the State Service for Emergency Situations (SES), 14 people including a child were killed in the crash, and there are 25 injured in hospital, including eleven children.
