The content of War Thunder continues to expand! As recently as last October, the reconnaissance and attack drones have notably appeared in the famous air, land and naval combat simulation, alongside two attack jets (Su-25 and the Mirage 2000C-S5). Gaijin Entertainment has not said that it has shot all its cards for the year 2022. The proof is: the Apex Predator update, just deployed, also comes to expand the game’s arsenal !
Tier VIII jets roll out of the hangar
The first Tier VIII planes hit the skies of War Thunder first! Advanced gear with destructive ammo that all your opponents will learn to fear. A trio in particular stands out:
- the Soviet MiG-29 (9-13) : nicknamed “Fulcrum”, this 4th generation jet fighter is distinguished by its very high speed and rate of climb, its modern air-to-air missiles and its supersonic displacements. A portrait whose only flaw is a limited fuel tank. None the less remains a very good interceptorin addition to providing strong air support to ground troops!
- the F-16A Fighting Falcon : available for the United States, China, Israel and Italy, this jet fighter is a true pioneer of aviation with its exceptional rate of climb and responsiveness, its high G tolerance, or its arsenal mixing guided and unguided missiles. Able to climb vertically he excels in both basic combat maneuvers and dogfights.
- the Tornado IDS (GR.1) : Aerodynamic, equipped with modern armament, and capable of reaching supersonic speeds, this flagship of the European armies is to be feared if it has you in its sights. Its biggest asset? Its versatility. It can easily stand up to certain hunters and interceptors, in addition to being able to extricate itself easily from complicated situations thanks to a top speed of 2300 km/h!
As part of the Apex Predators update, each country is also welcoming a new Tier VII premium jet, among which we find the Swedish Viggen (JA37D) which is an evolution of the JA37C with better missiles; the Mirage 2000 R-1 escaped from the French squadron and armed with more missiles than the standard Mirage 2000; without forgetting the new ones A-6E TRAM (United States) and Kfir Duck (Israel). Which plane will you choose?
From land to sea
If you prefer land and sea battles to dogfights in the air, don’t worry, there’s plenty to keep you busy too! More than 10 ground vehicles, new and updated, are thus in the spotlight with the Apex Predators update. Among the machines that should hold your attention, you can count on:
- The SUB-I-II : One of four prototypes of what would eventually become the Type 7 APC, this Japanese Tier VI battle tank sparkles with its high-firing 20mm cannon and amphibious capability. A word of advice, however: stay well away from your opponents. Despite its good mobile capacity, it is not suitable for close combat due to its light armor.
- the M728 : Unlike the SUB-I-II, this American Tier V engineered medium tank is the ideal candidate for dealing heavy damage without taking any yourself. With its 165mm demolition gun and solid armor, this tank can advance through enemy lines without flinching, while fortifying his position with his bulldozer blade. And premium vehicle obliges, you earn more rewards when you perform actions at its controls.
What about naval forces? No fewer than nine new units are on the menu, including the RN Duca degli Abruzzithe most advanced condottieri-class ship and US heavy cruiser, USS Newport News (CA-148). The second can also be obtained via the Winter Quest until January 9 (in addition to many other gifts).
Sand and snow go hand in hand
Finally, the Apex Predators update allows us to see the country through a new map, titled golden career. This takes the form of a vast sandy area, conducive to mixed battles. Tracking through these barren lands and capturing enemy bases will require you to slalom between rubble, dunes and refining complexes.
And that’s not all : the Poland map has been hit by winter. As a result of the arrival of the snowflakes, the Polish battlefield offers new tactical possibilities, while limiting those that were possible before. For example, you can now cross the frozen lake to attack your opponent on another front.
