Mexico City.- The Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, assured that he is ahead in the polls towards the candidacy of Morena for the 2024 presidential elections.
Interviewed in León, Guanajuato, where he presented his autobiographical book “El camino de México”, he pointed out that, as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said, the candidacy will be defined by asking the people.
“We are ahead in the polls,” he said.
Before local media reporters, who questioned her if the favorite candidate is the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, she said that she and her team say that, but in reality they are nervous because he is ahead.
“We are winning, that’s why she is nervous. The favoritism goes against the polls. Either there is a favorite or there are polls,” he assured.
Low migrant flow
Ebrard indicated that the flow of migrants going to the United States has decreased considerably because people already realized that the traffickers were lying when they encouraged them to travel before Title 42 ended.
“For example, 28 were returned to us today, not yesterday, was what Inami told us. The largest number that was returned to us was 940 one day, so what do we know today? We know that the flow, which was high on Thursday, today It has already gone down a lot, it has gone down to more than half. Why? Because people have already realized that what they were saying is not true, so fewer and fewer come,” he said.
The foreign minister reported that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) works in coordination with the FBI to dismantle international gangs of people traffickers and that they have already obtained some results.
“A working group of the Attorney General of the Republic was formed with the FBI and as far as I know they have presented nine gangs that have put people’s lives at risk, not Guanajuato, but the whole country,” he explained.
“There was a gang that operated in the Dominican Republic, in Ecuador, they tell people: ‘pay me seven thousand dollars and I’ll take you to the United States.’ That is a hoax. So, actions have been taken against those nine gangs.”
