For Al Gough, the main idea would be to develop the characters by making them more complex than ever, in particular Wednesday who, in the first season, gradually opened up, in particular by befriending his roommate Enid. Relationships and perspectives that Al Gough would like to explore further.
We would like to explore and somehow complicate all relationships in the future. The school was closed when they left, which gives us more possibilities for season two, and I think that’s something we’d love to explore. For us, the series also speaks of this friendship between Wednesday and Enid, it is central. We’d like to explore this aspect of Mercredi’s personality more now that she’s opened up to friendship. Then the other thing that would be really interesting would be to continue exploring the mother-daughter relationship between Wednesday and Morticia. How will their relationship evolve after the events of Season 1?

According to Miles Millar, the series could go even further, but nothing is decided yet. The showrunners claim to have a roadmap and move organically as the writing progresses. And when asked about the fan theory that Wednesday and Enid would end up as a couple, Millar replies that anything is possible.

We have a road map, and we have roads on this map that take you in sometimes completely unexpected directions. So we are open to anything. We want to explore that friendship in every way we can, but we’re not there yet and that’s where you sometimes get misguided by fans and things like that. Right now, we’re at the stage where we’re really open to seeing how these characters and this friendship will evolve. As Al said, this friendship between Wednesday and Enid is at the heart of the vision we have for the series.
