Wednesday continues to be a hit on Netflix and its season 2 seems inevitable. Moreover, the showrunners already have ideas for the sequel.

Wednesday made the heyday of the Netflix platform and should have the right to its second season. Faced with such success, it cannot be otherwise unless the VOD giant has other plans, but insofar as it seeks at all costs to recover subscribers, it would be surprising if he did not order immediately. Everyone talks about it as if it was already there. Season 2 of Wednesday is therefore confirmed little by little without warning and besides, the showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar, already have some ideas in mind. Spoiler alert.

Wednesday season 2 could focus more on its characters

Jenna Ortega could therefore re-stack as Wednesday in a season 2 and according to the creators of the show, this sequel should see things big. Asked by the HollywoodReporter, the two men have indeed lifted the veil on some ideas that they would like to develop in season 2 of Wednesday.

For Al Gough, the main idea would be to develop the characters by making them more complex than ever, in particular Wednesday who, in the first season, gradually opened up, in particular by befriending his roommate Enid. Relationships and perspectives that Al Gough would like to explore further.

We would like to explore and somehow complicate all relationships in the future. The school was closed when they left, which gives us more possibilities for season two, and I think that’s something we’d love to explore. For us, the series also speaks of this friendship between Wednesday and Enid, it is central. We’d like to explore this aspect of Mercredi’s personality more now that she’s opened up to friendship. Then the other thing that would be really interesting would be to continue exploring the mother-daughter relationship between Wednesday and Morticia. How will their relationship evolve after the events of Season 1?

Further developing the facets of Wednesday’s personality should therefore be a central element of the next season, but not only. According to Miles Millar, the series could go even further, but nothing is decided yet. The showrunners claim to have a roadmap and move organically as the writing progresses. And when asked about the fan theory that Wednesday and Enid would end up as a couple, Millar replies that anything is possible.

We’re not going to rule anything out, of course, the characters sometimes reveal themselves, that’s what we like in the series, it’s a very organic kind of journey. We have a road map, and we have roads on this map that take you in sometimes completely unexpected directions. So we are open to anything. We want to explore that friendship in every way we can, but we’re not there yet and that’s where you sometimes get misguided by fans and things like that. Right now, we’re at the stage where we’re really open to seeing how these characters and this friendship will evolve. As Al said, this friendship between Wednesday and Enid is at the heart of the vision we have for the series.

On social networks in any case, shortly after the broadcast of the series, fans got carried away and even launched a hashtag “Wenclair” (mixture of Wednesday and Enid Sinclair). For many, Wednesday and Enid would make a perfect couple, but as the showrunners have stated, nothing is set in stone yet.

Season 2 of Wednesday has not yet been confirmed by Netlfix that it is already making a lot of noise. Fans are impatiently awaiting the return of the young Addams and her stripper Jenna Ortega, who we will find before that on the poster of Scream 6. Corridor rumors nevertheless claim that the writing should begin early next year and that Netflix should formalize the launch of a second season in stride. We now have to be patient, but the showrunners are very motivated to get back to work. Moreover, when asked how long they would like to work on the series, they answer bluntly “as much as possible”. Wednesday therefore still has a bright future ahead of it, as long as Netflix accepts and viewers respond that said.
