Well-being Pension: When will the delivery of cards resume in CDMX?

The government of the Mexico City (CDMX) reported that the delivery of new cards of the of the Wellness Bank for the pension for the elderly will be postponed until Monday, January 9

The capital’s president reported the decision this Friday, December 23, on the occasion of the Christmas holidays, so the adult beneficiaries of the Welfare Pension will have to wait for their plastic to collect money.

On November 28, the Ministry of Well-being said that the card delivery process would begin on December 5 and would last until April 15, 2023. During this period, older adults can pick up their cards from Monday to Saturday at a time of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The objective of the delivery of new Banco del Bienestar cards is to transfer the money deposited to the elderly to an institution that will not charge them any type of commission.

Mexico City is the main delivery point for the Welfare Pension, since, according to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it is the entity with the most elderly people.

Welfare pension: What about the old cards?

Ariadna Montiel, head of the Ministry of Well-being, said that older adults who change cards should not deliver their previous card, because it represents a separate bank account that works for transfers or to receive other pensions, such as the one from the Mexican Institute. Social Security (IMSS).

These are the reasons why you should not turn in your old Welfare Pension card:

• It is a personal account with which you can receive money from other sources.
• You may have an available balance, and when you deliver it you may lose it.

“They are cards from different banks… we are not going to make an institutional transfer, that is their card and they keep it,” said the head of the Welfare Secretariat.

Finally, the official said that “they are personal accounts that adults gave in previous administrations that are not under government administration… that is why they should not deliver it as a substitute, but rather it is a new delivery and they keep their card ”.
