Tech companies have been busy this year and many soap operas have left their mark. Which do you think is the most important? This is the question of our last poll of the week of the year!
As the poet said, it’s time to take stock, simply. Yes, we will never stop quoting the Nèg’ Marrons, just as we will never stop talking about tech. Each year has its soap operas, the year 2022 has been marked by many shocks, to say the least, unprecedented, which have splashed the different universes that interest us.
The most massive, the most important, is undoubtedly the energy crisis since it is a direct fallout from the war in Ukraine (among other causes). The subject could not be more serious and it has very concrete repercussions on the purchasing power of the average tech fan. Many companies have reflected this in their prices in an already inflationary context such as we had not seen since the 1980s and the fallout from the two oil shocks.
Big redemption in the air
Another big file that kept us busy was the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk. Appearing light, the file is no less serious when it comes to the most important social network (even if less populated than the very large ones in the sector). We first thought it would take place, then in fact no, then in fact yes, then finally no, then to avoid a lawsuit, the transaction was finally made.
For an even larger sum, another redemption may have marked you. One thing is certain, the takeover bid for Activision Blizzard by Microsoft has clearly been able to dynamite the start of the year. 70 billion just that, for a takeover that has yet to be validated by various authorities including the influential FTC (Federal trade commission) which is taking Microsoft to court.
2022 rhymes with USB-C
If it does not come into effect immediately, since it will begin to apply from 2024, a text voted by the European authorities will undoubtedly mark the years to come and will make it possible to remember 2022 as it must. This is the universal USB-C charger deal for all portable electronic devices. The most striking immediate consequence is undoubtedly the likely switch from the iPhone 15 to USB-C.
The electric car pressed on the mushroom in 2022 at Frandroid, with the arrival of a full-time editor on this subject. And in this sector, the year was clearly marked by the massive arrival of Chinese brands. BYD in particular, world number 2, has finally arrived in France.
Finally, at the end of the year, many layoffs affected the Tech sector, especially in the United States. Difficult to forget the 11,000 jobs cut at Meta. It is estimated that the number of licensees exceeds that of the 2008 crisis. We are therefore not on a slight slowdown.
