Like every year, this month of June one of the most important events in Islam is celebrated, the Lamb feast. Also called Eid Al-Adhais a religious holiday celebrated by millions of Muslims around the world, and for some it is considered the most important holiday next to the end of Ramadan.

The reason for the celebration is devotion and gratitude to God, remembering that the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in the Judeo-Christian tradition) He agreed to sacrifice his son Ishmael as a sign of his love and obedience to God, he intervened and put a ram in Ishmael’s place to be sacrificed.
The celebration consists of a ritual that has several parts. Start with a oracin special (Salat al-Eid) that is performed in congregation, followed by a sermon. On the other hand, there is a bao ritual (guls), and ends with the sacrifice of a lamb performed by the head of the family (qurbani). Tradition explains that the meat is divided into three parts, one for the family, another for friends and another for the needy.
The Feast of the Lamb or Eid Al-Adha is a celebration that aims to remember God, practice charity and celebrate the effort of an entire year. Of course, depending on the area or country, Eid al-Adha is celebrated with variations and some differences, but the central meaning is celebrated by everyone equally.
When is it celebrated
The exact date of the Feast of the Lamb is different each year, as it is based on the Islamic lunar calendar. They must be counted 70 days after the conclusion of Ramadan, so it coincides with the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. The Qur’an states that Eid Al-Adha should be celebrated on tenth day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Depending on the placement of the moon, the date is not necessarily the same in all countries, as it may be different in geographically distant countries. In spain, the official celebration date lasts three days. Specifically, it began Sunday June 16and finish the Tuesday June 18. In Ceuta, on the other hand, the festival begins on June 17.
