Actress Jada Pinkett Smith‘s statements about her marriage to Will Smith came as a shock to many of the couple’s fans. According to her, the two have been separated since 2016, as they were “exhausted from trying”. Now, Will has written, for The New York Times , that his ex-wife’s revelations “kind of woke him up.”
For the actor, Jada “has lived a life more on the edge than he imagined” and that she is more “resilient, intelligent and compassionate than he imagined”, according to the American newspaper.
“When you’ve been with someone for more than half your life, a kind of emotional blindness sets in,” Smith wrote. “And you can easily lose sensitivity to hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”

The couple’s children, Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22, were reportedly relieved with the news. According to the Daily Mail, they would be happy that the truth was revealed, because they have spent the last few years “tense”, having to lie in public about their parents’ relationship.
The actress detailed the end of her relationship with Smith when releasing her memoir, titled Worthy , which will be released on the 17th.
