Microsoft has launched an optional, non-security update for Windows 10. This is the preview for the February patch day. Included are not only bug fixes, but also an innovation for OneDrive subscriptions.

That Update KB5019275 is now available for all Windows 10 users. Builds 19042.2546, 19044.2546 and 19045.2546 had already appeared as part of the Release Preview channel, but now they can also be installed by all other Windows 10 users.

If you want, you can now install the update manually and benefit from the changes. It’s an update with a long list of bug fixes and improvements – plus there’s a new highlight: the update shows storage warnings for Microsoft OneDrive subscribers on the Systems page in the Settings app and helps better manage what they need online storage. More on that in the release notes at the end of this post.

Install manually now

The update KB5019275 is a so-called preview update or optional update. Microsoft used to group these updates under the term “C-Updates”. If nothing comes up, the changes contained therein will be automatically distributed to all users on patch day in February. However, Microsoft does not start distributing the optional updates at once, as it does with the security-related updates. Optional updates are offered via the Windows Update function.

You have to search for and start it yourself via the “Optional Updates” menu item so that it is loaded and installed.
