The end is approaching for Windows 10. Microsoft has confirmed that it is already the end of major updates. The operating system will therefore not receive any new features until the final end of its support in 2025.

After saying goodbye to Windows 7 and 8 at the start of the year, it will soon be Windows 10’s turn to die. Microsoft has actually announced that its operating system will no longer receive major updates. It will, however, continue to receive important security updates until it is officially buried by Microsoft.

Version 22H2 is therefore the latest version of Windows 10. Users will always receive security patches to fix bugs and flawsbut they will no longer be able to experience new features like the new widgets and Windows 11 Start menu.

Windows 10 22H2 will be the last official version

In a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that: the current version, 22H2, will be the final release of Windows 10, and all editions will remain supported with monthly security updates until that date “. Indeed, all editions of Windows 10 will be supported until the official end of support on October 14, 2025.

Users therefore still have more than two years to say goodbye to Windows 10. Of course, you can always use Windows 10 after October 14, 2025, but your PC will be more vulnerable to malware and computer attacks. Microsoft therefore recommends upgrading to Windows 11 to take advantage of new features and enhanced security.

The transition to Windows 11 may not be easy for all users. This is probably why Microsoft announced it more than two years in advance. Right now, Windows 11 is still a huge failure compared to the smash-hit Windows 10. In February 2023, Windows 11 was installed on less than 20% of computers in circulation.

The rollout of Windows 11 began in October 2021 and the new operating system is available on all eligible devices since May 2022. It will gradually gain in popularity as updates bring new useful features. By the way, Windows 11 now supports iMessage to receive text messages from your iPhone to your PC.
