The government announces that from December 29, 2022, all mandatory PCR tests for travelers upon arrival in Hong Kong, as well as the vaccination card that allows access to certain facilities, will be lifted.

From December 29, 2022, travelers can travel to Hong Kong without restrictions. The PCR tests on arrival and the passport that restricted or controlled access are dropped. What remains is a negative test before departure: visitors must present a negative result of a PCR test within 48 hours before their flight to Hong Kong or a rapid antigen test (RAT) within 24 hours before their flight.

dr Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), said: “The new measures are an important milestone in tourism revitalization and the full reopening of Hong Kong’s tourism gates. Visitors can now take full advantage of Hong Kong’s diverse offerings enjoy trains as soon as they arrive in the city. We believe that this will attract travelers from all over the world to Hong Kong. Taking into account the pace of the resumption of outbound travel in different origin markets, the HKTB will gradually increase its global promotional efforts to promote Hong Kong’s status as a world-class destination.”
