But he was eliminated during the Red Light, Green Light challenge.

Fan favorite Wolf, now 70, starred in eight Gladiators series, which drew up to 16 million viewers in the 1990s.

It returned for a redesign in 2008.

An insider told The Sun: “Everyone recognized him straight away and were thrilled to meet him.

“He was a really nice guy. It’s a shame he got knocked out in the first round but he seemed in good spirits.

“It shows you how tough the competition was.

“If he found it difficult, what hope was there for anyone else?”

Squid Game: The Challenge is being filmed for Netflix at Cardington Studios in Bedfordshire, featuring recreations of sets from hit South Korean dramas.

Hundreds of contestants are vying for a £3.7million pot.

The Sun revealed this week that filming turned into a nightmare for some participants as temperatures plunged to -3C on the day they tried to get through the first lap by standing still.

Netflix said: “Every precaution has been taken.”
