Luca Waldschmidt remains a hot candidate for a change at VfL Wolfsburg. “It’s not an easy situation for Luca, he scores a lot of goals in pre-season games, but the competition for his positions is immense”, coach Nico Kovac is quoted by the ‘kicker’. As Kovac’s further words suggest, Wolves are open to a split this January: “We don’t know what else the transfer window will bring, we’ll see.” Apparently, the market hasn’t really got going yet. Waldschmidt’s contract runs until 2025. In a season that has been disappointing for him personally, the 26-year-old has made seven mostly short appearances so far. To date, he has not been able to participate in a goal.
