Woman found stabbed to death in Arlington apartment building

A woman was found stabbed to death in an apartment building in Arlington, Virginia, early Monday, authorities said. A man was detained by the authorities.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was found at the Terwilliger Place Apartments in the 3400 block of Washington Boulevard. Officers responded just before 5 a.m.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arlington Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage would not comment on what might have led to the killing, but confirmed that it was not random.

“The deceased and the male subject know each other, however, we are still investigating the circumstances of the incident,” he stressed.

Officials added that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Several police officers were on the block, which is close to Clarendon-area restaurants, shops and offices. Building residents still couldn’t use the lobby or elevator at 11 a.m.

Members of the forensic team could be seen with bags of evidence.

Terwilliger Place offers affordable apartments with a preference for veterans, according to the website for the building and its developer.
