The 30-year-old, who appeared at the end of October for having razed hectares of trees that did not belong to him, was sentenced on Monday, January 23 to a two-year prison sentence, one of which was suspended. He has a five-year ban on holding public office and an obligation to pay damages. The defense plans to appeal.

Pierre A., who has since been made redundant, was responsible at the National Center for Forest Property (CNPF) for forest consolidation, i.e. identifying and convincing small owners to sell their plots to facilitate forest management. forest. Because in the region, the forest is a puzzle, made up of thousands of small plots nested one inside the other: some 25,000 owners hold 15,000 of the 70,000 hectares of private forests in Moselle. The respondent bought some of these plots for the benefit of his company and is accused of having cut others that did not belong to him – by mistake, he defended himself.
