Xavi Simons is one of those great talents that have been formed within La Masía, however, a couple of years ago the player decided to leave the club through the back door after PSG arrived with a million-dollar offer on his table. The Parisians tempted him enough to rule out the renewal with the Catalans and thus bet on signing with the sheikhs’ project, something that he himself has described as a mistake.
The reality is that within Barcelona there was significant faith in Simons, they considered him a player who would sooner rather than later make a difference within the first team, but the player hit them from behind. Perhaps, if he had not done so, he would already be part of the first team with a role like the one played by other homegrown players like Gavi, Araujo or Balde, however money was stronger and in the end his history in Paris was poor, so much so that he ended at PSV, where the show is stolen.

Simons is the best player in the Eredivisie this season and that is why there have been rumors regarding a possible return to Barcelona, but the reality is that this will not happen. At no time, neither Xavi nor the club’s board of directors have considered putting an offer to the player to return to the club, it is not contemplated within the short-term plans, and it is that the team has a different route to follow and the Dutch is not part of it.
