Xbox has the fewest active users in Call of Duty among all platforms

The Call of Duty franchise is highly popular and profitable in the video game industry. The possible purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft has raised concerns at Sonyas they fear losing future installments of the game on their platforms.

In recent hearings between Microsoft and the FTC, Call of Duty once again came under the spotlight. Phil Spencer, CEO of Xbox, stated that will do everything possible to maintain the presence of the franchise on PlayStationwhile Amy Hood, Microsoft’s chief financial officer, assured that it was never intended to make the IP an Xbox exclusive.

Keep intellectual property available on as many platforms as possible seems to be the most successful business strategy. During the trial, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, revealed the franchise’s active player figures by platform.

The majority of Call of Duty gamers are on mobile devices.

Kotick reported that Call of Duty has 70 million daily players on all platforms, which is an impressive achievement. To put it in perspective, the Roblox platform has 66 million daily users.

According to Kotick, most Call of Duty gamers are on mobile, which is not surprising considering the free-to-play games on this platform. However, it is interesting that Xbox has the fewest daily active users.

During the trial, Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, revealed that the majority of Call of Duty players play on mobile, followed by 25% on PC, around 15-16% on PlayStation and 7-8% on Xbox. These numbers represent 35.7 million mobile gamers, 17.5 million on PC, 11.2 million on PlayStation and 5.6 million on Xbox.
