During CES 2023, Sony announced that it will now be easier to find a PlayStation 5 on the shelves.
” Anyone who wants a PS5 should find one more easily in stores around the world from now on. “, this sentence was pronounced by Jim Ryan, president of PlayStation, on the occasion of the Sony conference organized as part of CES 2023. It’s been more than two years – since the launch of the console in November 2022 – that it has been difficult to get your hands on the competitor of the Xbox Series X.
Despite the shortage, as much linked to strong demand (according to Sony) as to the economic situation, the Japanese firm has sold more than 30 million PlayStation 5. This is 5 million more than during the last count, dating from November 2022. The success is therefore colossal for the console (despite a price increase), which would undoubtedly have broken all records if the situation had been more normal. Jim Ryan also thanked the fans for their patience.
The PlayStation 5 finally available without any worries?

In short, we will certainly have to wait a few more days (weeks?) for “ easily find » a PS5 (that is to say by simply going to Auchan, without any reservation). Nevertheless, Sony’s words can only be reassuring and announce a much less restrictive research phase than before.
I can already confirm this thanks to some feedback: I have two friends, including a colleague, who were able to get their hands on a PS5 fairly quickly (one by Fnac, another by Sony). We are far from the time when acquiring the Sony console could be very frustrating.
