Zelensky affirms that Russia is not willing to have a just peace

BURGENSTOCK.Russia and its leaders “are not ready for a just peace,” declared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski this Sunday, after a peace summit held in Swiss.

“We must do our job, let’s not think about Russia, let’s do what we have to do. At the moment, Russia and its leaders are not ready for a just peace. It is a fact,” said the leader during a press conference in Burgenstock.

Russia can negotiate peace “tomorrow if it withdraws from our territory,” Zelensky insisted, after the Russian president, Vladimir Putindeclares himself open to dialogue.

However, Putin proposed conditions that kyiv considers unacceptable, which would amount to a surrender and abandoning territories recognized as part of Ukraine by the international community.

Western military aid not enough to “win” the war in Ukraine

Zelensky also stated that Ukraine was not an “enemy” of China, responding to a question about its relations with Beijing.

China is a country allied with Russia and has been accused of contributing to Moscow’s war effort by supplying components. Beijing decided not to participate in this weekend’s peace summit because Russia would not be absent.

“China could help us,” Zelensky stressed.

Still, despite the fact that the United States resumed sending aid, blocked for months, and that other Western allies committed to strengthening their cooperation, Volodymyr Zelensky considered that the current volume of aid provided will not be enough to win the war.

“There is help. There are important packages. Is that enough to win? No. Is it late? Yes,” Zelensky said.
