Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenskyhas resumed his work from his office in kyivafter visiting USA Y Polandin what was his first trip abroad since the start of the Russian invasion.
“I am in my office. We continue to work for victory, ”the Ukrainian leader reported, in a message issued through his Telegram account and reproduced by the Ukrinform portal.
Zelensky arrived last night at Ukraineafter a brief stay in Poland, where he met his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Dudawhom he thanked for the military, financial and humanitarian support provided by his country.
The Ukrainian leader had already made a technical stop in warsaw on the trip to Washingtonalthough without meetings of political scope.
Poland is, together with the Baltic countries, the main ally at the level of the European Union (EU) of Ukraine and the main country of entry to the community bloc of Ukrainian refugees.
Duda, for his part, had traveled to kyiv last April, accompanied by the leaders of the three Baltic countries –Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia-.
The EU invited Zelensky on Wednesday to participate in person in a summit between Ukraine and the presidencies of the Council and the European Comissionwhich will take place on February 3.
Zelensky chose USAits great transatlantic ally, for its first trip abroad since the start of the Russian invasion, last February.
Coinciding with his visit to Washington, the President’s administration Joe Biden announced its decision to supply Patriot defensive systems that Ukraine had been demanding for months.
Warsaw had offered kyiv to transfer to Ukrainian territory the units of those systems that Germany previously promised to send to Poland to reinforce the defense of the eastern flank of the NATO.
berlin reacted strangely to this offer from Warsaw to kyiv, which strained relations between the two neighboring countries.
Finally the German and Polish Defense Ministries agreed that the patriot they would stay in Poland.
The American Patriots are part of the new $1.85 billion military aid package for Ukraine announced during Zelensky’s visit to Washington.
