Alert!  Severe storm watch issued for South Florida

He National Metereological Service The United States National Weather Service (NWS) today issued a severe afternoon-evening storm watch for South Florida, which could include hail up to two inches and strong wind gusts.

Through the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, the government entity reported that the weather deterioration will be in effect until approximately seven p.m.

According to Telemundo 51 weather reportthe situation takes place after high temperatures were recorded in the area the day before, with maximums of 96 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) and wind chills of up to 113°F.

For these reasons, experts recommended this week have adequate hydration since excessive heat will last for several days.

“As we begin the work week, we highlight the potential for well above average temperatures and dangerous heat index values. Heat advisories are likely needed later this week and excessive heat warnings are possible,” the NWS said on social media.

The city of Fort Lauderdale, in Broward County, already reached a record temperature of 98°F on Saturday, May 11 (36.6 degrees Celsius), the highest in the last 15 years.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Extreme heat is responsible for 1,220 deaths a year in the United Stateswhile injuries from high temperatures include everything from skin rashes to burns and heat stroke.
