Federal funds announced to help restaurants

Elected officials and restaurant owners participate in the announcement of federal funding for the installation of free street structures for Queens food establishments.

At the event, organized at the Mojitos restaurant, Congresswoman Grace Meng, along with the commissioners of the Department of Small Business Services, Kevin Kim, and the Department of Transportation, Ydanis Rodríguez, were in charge of publicizing this fund, which comes from a grant from the federal Small Business Administration.

“We are providing it here in Queens to sixty restaurants, for free, so they will be able to have a place outside.” “We end by reminding everyone who has a restaurant that August 3rd is the deadline to apply, otherwise the Department of Transportation will begin giving inspections,” said Congresswoman Grace Meng.

The funding will help those restaurants put in place new outdoor dining facilities that meet Small Business Services code.

The program will be limited to Congressional District 6, which includes some of the city’s most diverse neighborhoods, such as Bayside, Elmhurst, Flushing, Forest Hills and Rego Park.
