Man arrested with guns and ammunition in his car

Authorities continue to investigate the case of a man who was arrested yesterday with firearms, ammunition, and several types of knives in his possession.

“The amount of ammunition and NYPD paraphernalia in the car was significant. We wanted to make sure we updated the community,” said the chief of the city’s Police Department.

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, units from the 110th Public Safety Precinct in Queens were patrolling the area when at 86th Street and Ditmars Boulevard, in East Elmhurst, they detained the driver of a black Ford Explorer pickup truck with darkened license plates. .

They identified the driver as Judd Sanson and inside the car they found a 9 millimeter pistol, nine bullet magazines, a bulletproof vest, handcuffs, NYPD uniforms, two axes, a stun gun, multiple knives, a whip and a walking stick.

Sanson faces multiple charges: including criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of an ammunition device, as well as a charge of obscuring the license plate of his car.

“An obstructed license plate becomes an arrest, of a person who was heavily armed: guns, knives, weapons, very dangerous for our community,” added the NYPD chief.

The arrest was made near the scene of a shooting that left two police officers injured while investigating a pattern of scooter robberies in the area on June 3. Although, the authorities have not said that there is a relationship between the two events.

Concerned, the community reacted to this new case:

“Insecurity, New York is very unsafe now. You can’t walk or go out, because those on the motorcycles walking, who you can see are two, are going to assault you,” said Miguel Cedeño, a Queens resident.

“And what can you do, you have to run and get away from there because you don’t know the reaction that the man can take against you. Of course it is dangerous,” said Gustavo Urueta, a Queens resident.

Some even say they are seeing more police presence:

“This area has been damaged a lot and now we are seeing again more, more, more police on the street doing routines, walking along the main avenues where there have been a lot of robberies and all that,” said José Ramírez, a Queens resident.

The police are still investigating what this person’s intentions were, and why he had so many loaded weapons in his vehicle.
