FC Bayern Munich was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The German soccer record champions did not get more than 1: 1 (0: 0) in the second leg against Manchester City on Wednesday evening, the Munich team had lost the first leg 0: 3. The Norwegian international Erling Haaland (57th minute) gave the guests the lead, Joshua Kimmich (83rd) converted a hand penalty to equalize late. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel saw the yellow-red card shortly before the end for complaining and had to go to the stands in the 86th minute.
Striker Haaland shot a hand penalty over the goal in the first half. Bayern professional Dayot Upamecano had previously deflected a shot from Ilkay Gündogan with his arm (35′). For the third year in a row, the quarter-finals became the terminus in the premier class for Bayern. Guardiola, on the other hand, is now playing with his team against defending champions Real Madrid for a place in the final. (dpa)
