A 16-year-old girl is convicted of attempted assault for throwing the unopened soda can at Paludan. The woman herself says during questioning that she threw the can on the ground in anger and that the purpose was not to hit anyone. According to the district court’s judgment, however, it appears from witness statements that the intention must have been to hit and injure Paludan.

Sentenced to youth care

The 16-year-old is now sentenced to youth care and must pay SEK 10,000 in damages.

Rasmus Paludan, who is party leader for the party Stram Kurs Sweden, is a Danish-Swedish politician who in the spring burned the Koran during public gatherings in several places in Sweden – which caused large riots and violence as a result.

Paludan’s Koran burning outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm on Saturday has caused large protests in several Muslim countries.
