Every December 30, the pain of the tragedy of that early morning in 2004 comes with the memory, when repeated images of the massacre in Cro-Magnon.
The relatives and friends of the 194 people who died after the fire that originated inside the bowling alley in the Once neighborhood, as well as the survivors; they reinforce memory year after year and resignify it. Proof of this was the recital and tribute organized by the group “Que no nos cuentan Cro-Magnon” at the Obelisk, where Pato Fontanet, formerly “Callejeros”, a band that played that tragic night and today the leader of “Don Osvaldo”, took the stage to sing.
Undoubtedly, it was an emotional day like all the previous ones, but with a special flavor. The presence of Fontanet Much was expected and she was cheered by hundreds of people who were present, who read phrases like “Music does not kill” on their t-shirts; according to the story of Telam. And the song that is present in each march was heard and became a banner: “Neither the flares, nor Rock and roll, the kids were killed by corruption.”
Before starting the recital, a document was read in which they highlighted a different climate among the people, one of greater joy. On the one hand, they awarded it to the recently obtained world championship, but above all for the recovery of space. In October, The Senate approved Law 27,695 that declares the properties where the bowling alley operated “of public utility and subject to expropriation” “Republic Cro-MagnonNow, all that remains is to wait for its regulation to become part of memory, in a place where samples and activities related to the massacre will be held.
During the presentation, Pato Fontanet with “Don Osvaldo” made no reference to that night on the 30th and performed five songs in the span of 20 minutes. “For us it is closing a circle. It is something beautiful that Patricio (Fontanet) has played on our stage, because they are also survivors,” Javier García, one of the survivors, told the Télam agency.
“They took people out of the nightclub, visited morgues like us and accompanied us on the first marches. So for us they are fighting companions”, he highlighted. Yesterday afternoon, a mobilization was also held to continue demanding justice for those who were able to get out alive and for those who were torn away.
