2 shootings reported half an hour apart on the same street in Manassas

Police reported two shootings within 30 minutes of each other in the same Manassas community Tuesday night. In the second incident, one person was injured in the neck.

Around 6 pm, in the Georgetown South neighborhood, a shot was fired from a moving vehicle. There it bounced off the ground and hit the back of a car. Two other vehicles were also shot at.

Surveillance video faintly picks up the sound of gunshots and shows a person running away.

“Honestly, I don’t feel well,” said a resident who asked to remain anonymous. “This area had a bad track record, but I heard from all over the world that it was improving.”

Police officers surrounded the neighborhood and headed for a terraced house, but no victims were located and no one was arrested.

The police cleared the scene, but half an hour later they were back.

One person had been shot in the neck in the same townhouse that residents first told police about. A teenager was arrested for the shooting.

“You lose your peace of mind while trying to start a family,” said one resident. “You don’t want to do that here.”

Police said they returned to the neighborhood because of a report of a second shooting, but none of the several neighbors Telemundo 44 spoke with heard a second round of gunshots.

Police gave few details about what happened, but said the victim is still in hospital tonight and is in critical condition.
