Samsung confirmed that the Samsung Keyboard app, the default keyboard for Galaxy line phones, was the reason for excessive battery consumption in One UI 5.1. The company reported, however, that the problem has already been resolved with the app update in March.

One UI 5.1 was released alongside the Galaxy S23 and then made available to predecessor devices. However, many users began to notice that the interface was draining the battery on some high-end phones, such as the Galaxy S22, S21, Z Fold 4 and Z Fold 3.

Samsung Keyboard issue has been resolved

Right from the start, suspicion fell on the Samsung Keyboard, which showed signs of high battery consumption through the indicators of the devices. Now, the company has confirmed that the problem was really in the keyboard app due to an “additional qualification process (related to stickers and emojis)”.

Fortunately, this problem has now been fixed. Samsung updated the keyboard app on March 2 with v5.6.10.31, which resolves this issue. As Samsung apps update automatically, One UI 5.1 users must have the new version installed.

If you want to confirm that the Samsung Keyboard update has actually been installed on your device, go to the Galaxy Store and search for the app.

Despite the battery consumption problem with the Samsung Keyboard, One UI 5.1 brings a significant set of improvements and news, and the Galaxy line models are receiving the interface according to the South Korean manufacturer’s update schedule.
