2022 has been a particularly busy year for Sonic: SEGA’s blue hedgehog reappeared in the gaming world with Sonic Frontiers, the first open world chapter of the saga, but also with the Sonic Origins collection, the Sonic 2 movie and the Sonic Prime animated series.

It seems that Sonic’s intention is not to stop at all over the next year and continue to whiz at full speed. This is what Takashi Iizuka of the Sonic Team suggests, who in a recent interview granted to Famitsu announced the arrival of a “new wave of contentfor Sonic in 2023.

‘Last year was thebiggest year in Sonic historyincluding the release of the film’s sequel, new titles Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers, and the Netflix animated series Sonic Prime. We are preparing a second wave to keep the fans happy and keep the momentum going until 2023. We have already announced additional content for Sonic Frontiers, but there is much more to it than that, so please stay tuned.”.

Net of the co-presence of God of War and Pokémon, Sonic Frontiers was a success with over 2.5 million copies sold in the launch period. SEGA has already specified that the title is the starting point for the future of the video game series.
