The scholarships are part of the Horizon 2020 MSCA-COFUND Program and are launched with a financing of 4 million euros and has a duration of two years with five study areas: energy, photovoltaic, wind energy, storage, smart grids and vehicle electric.

The programme, with the purpose of facilitating geographical mobility and the transfer of knowledge between the academic field and the industrial sector, contemplates reception periods of 18 to 21 months in universities and research centers as well as professional stays of three to six months at the Iberdrola headquarters in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Spain.

The scholarship edition is called ‘Energy 4 Future’

The registration period for the scholarships is from February 1 to March 30 of this 2023 and then an evaluation period will begin that will last until August, when the interview phase will begin.

In October, the beneficiaries will be notified, and those selected will start the program in January 2024, according to what IBerdrola detailed in its statement.

The research will be carried out at 15 European and American research centers and universities, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Rochester Institute of Technology in the United States, the University of Strathclyde at Imperial College of London, in the United Kingdom, and the Université de Bordeaux in France. and Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Germany.

Meanwhile, in Spain, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Carlos III University, University of Cantabria Pontificia de Comillas University, University of the Basque Country, University of Salamanca, IMDEA Energy and Polymat – Basque center of Macromolecular Design and Engineering.

The initiative replaces the previous program of scholarships for young researchers promoted by the Fundación Iberdrola España since 2011, to which more than three million euros were allocated to promote the development of 180 researchers.
