Period series that follows from the hit “Bridgerton.” (Netflix)

Period dramas have always had many followers and the different platforms echoed this desire to see and consume content linked to historical moments far from the current ones. The premiere of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the first series derived from the universe of Bridgerton, It generated a great reception on Netflix and became one of the titles with the most views within days of its premiere. It is a fiction based on the novel The Covent Garden Ladies, Written by Hallie Rubenhold. Starring Samantha Morton In the role of a Madame Margaret Wells, the series pits this woman against Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville), who became her ruthless competitor. Margaret, in addition to being the regent of a brothel, must deal with raising her two daughters, Charlotte (Jessica Brown-Findlay) and Lucy (Eloise Smyth). the golden age

the golden age (The Gilded Age) is a series that you find in the HBO Max catalog and has Julian Fellowes, creator of the great series, in its ranks Downton Abbey. This drama is set in New York in 1882 during a very particular moment: the parenthesis that formed the years of Reconstruction, after the Civil War, and the reinstatement of racism with segregationism.

With the gold rush as a form of enrichment added to the railway network that was expanding more and more, this story arises that confronts the aristocracy with the nouveau riche. This period drama traces the rise to power of Catherine the Great (played by elle fanning), Empress of Russia. She is joined in the cast by Nicholas Hoult, who gives life to Emperor Peter III of Russia. With two seasons premiered on Lionsgate+ (the third is coming to the platform this year), this series knew how to use satire and humor to recount the rise of this woman to power. Her wishes to murder her husband make this fiction the key for you to immerse yourself in an original story. The supporting cast included Sacha Dhawan, Charity Wakefield, Gwilym Lee, Adam Godley, Douglas Hodge, Belinda Bromilow, Bayo Gbadamosi and Sebastian de Souza.

dickinson

It is the story of the American writer, Emily Dickinson, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The series has three seasons and was created by Alena Smith. The plot goes through the letters and poems that Emily kept in a trunk and that she asked Lavinia (played by Anna Baryshnikov), her sister, to burn after she died. But this was not fulfilled and she revealed things like the love she felt for Susan Gilbert (Ella Hunt), her brother’s fiancée. The cast is completed by Toby Huss, Adrian Enscoe, Jane Krakowski, Amanda Warren, Chinaza Uche, among others. You can watch it on Apple TV+.

Castamar’s cook

It is the classic drama of palace intrigue mixed with a forbidden romance. La cocinera de Castamar is set in Spain in the 18th century and tells the love story between Clara (Michelle Jenner), a cook who falls in love with a nobleman she works for, the Duke Don Diego (Roberto Enríquez).

Based on the novel by Fernando J. Múñez, the fiction focuses on the dramas of these characters: Diego has just been widowed and has his soul in pain, and Clara suffers from agoraphobia after the execution of her father. The cast is completed by Fiorella Faltoyano, Hugo Silva, Maxi Iglesias, María Hervás and Agnés Llobet. You watch it on Netflix.
