But as soon as you leave the EU or travel by ship or plane, it can quickly become expensive. In the process, some settings also become a cost trap that you may not even be aware of.

All mobile phone providers have a smartphone app that can be used to easily switch the mobile box on and off:
- Magenta (iOS / Android): With Magenta, you can find this in the app or in the customer portal under “My data” and “Call forwarding”.
- Three (iOS / Android): The Drei Box can be deactivated via the customer zone in the app and on the website. This can be found under “Settings & Blocking”.
- A1 (iOS / Android): At A1, the mobile box can be deactivated via “My A1 area” or via the “My A1” app under “My cell phone” and “Calls & diversions”.
- HoT (iOS / Android): With HoT, call forwarding and mailbox are switched off via the My HoT customer zone or in the HoT app. This can be found under “Mobile settings” and “Call forwarding”.
