• This technology provides its users with greater performance and network speed.

  • Experts mention the importance of clarifying and putting a face to the monsters around this technology.

  • The recent launch of the 5G network in the 18 main urban areas of Mexico will help.

The internet and technology have offered a series of important tools for humanity, since they have completely transformed our way of life. In this sense, a Cradlepoint investigation highlighted how 5G wireless technology can transform public transport in Mexico.

According to data shared in a report ‘The Ericsson Mobility Report’the barrier of one billion 5G subscriptions is expected to be surpassed next year. The same document also points out that by the end of 2026 the number of global subscriptions could even exceed 3.3 billion.

Also, according to a report published by the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), fifth-generation mobile technologies were commercially available in 58 countries as of June 2021, up from 38 about a year ago, and a dozen more had partially deployed this technology. Mobile technology. In Latin America, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Brazil are already the first countries that already have a foundation and enjoy the 5G network, improving the connection in the region.

Connectivity in public transport is key

Many investigations already show that connectivity is key to public transport, especially to improve service efficiency, reduce user waiting times, improve coordination, safety and reduce overall fleet CO2 emissions through monitoring and management of telemetry data.

In this sense, Cradlepoint indicates that these are some of the reasons why the transport industry is technology

“There are still relevant infrastructure challenges that both authorities and public transport service providers need to consider in order to fully exploit the potential of these technologies,” Carlos Perea, Vice President for Latin America at Cradlepoint, said in the shared research.

The research highlights that with the recent launch of the 5G network in the 18 main urban areas of Mexico in February 2022, transportation companies and Start-ups have a great opportunity to position themselves among the first to offer smart mobility services that will be much more efficient than currently available services and at potentially lower cost.

“In addition, this technology will help transport companies move into the future, allowing them to not only track the location of buses, trains, cars or ferries, even through unavoidable dead zones like tunnels, but also avoid sending personal IT to individual transport units to configure and troubleshoot, while gaining insights into performance and usage data on each vehicle, and easily integrate with fleet management back office systems via API/SDK,” he said.

At present, technology already exists for the reliable transmission of vehicle data in real time. On the go, these new technology standards enable superior performance, safety, connectivity and utility in a compact design.

Therefore, in Mexico, it is expected that, in the near future, at least one hundred cities will have a 5G network, which would be equivalent to a coverage of 80 percent of the country. And in this context of technological updating, transport companies that move fast and adopt the new 5G connectivity standard have a great chance of becoming some of the main players in the Mexican market in the coming years.
