Netflix released the main releases that arrive in its catalog in 2023. Among the almost 50 films presented, seven are thrillers that promise to please fans of the genre. It has stories based on books, futuristic and long plots for those who like South Korean productions.
Some titles already have a date to arrive on the platform, others will still be defined over time; but the fact is that there will be no shortage of options for subscribers of the streaming giant.
Thinking about it, the canaltech has listed and detailed the seven thrillers premiering on Netflix in 2023 for you to watch.
7. Fair Play
Still no confirmed date to hit streaming, fair play tells the story of a young couple whose relationship is pushed to the limit when an unexpected promotion takes place at a competitive investment fund.
Starring Phoebe Dynevor (bridgerton), Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) and Eddie Marsan (Simply happy), the film promises to deliver a suspense that will leave the viewer with their eyes glued to the screen.
The direction and the script were with Chloe Domont, who signed her first feature, and who became famous in directing shorts and episodes of the series. Billions, Suits It is Ballers.
6. JUNG_ E
Those who like South Korean films and science fiction already have a thriller to watch on Netflix. JUNG_E premiered on streaming on January 20 and tells the story of a researcher who leads efforts to end a civil war. To do this, she has the idea of cloning the brain of an acclaimed army captain; her own mother.
Set in 2194, the film addresses human cloning, and futuristic strategies for war. Written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho (zombie invasion), the film stars Kang Soo-youn, Kim hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo.
5. Kill Boksoon
Another South Korean thriller coming to Netflix is Kill Boksoon, a film that tells the story of a woman who lives a double life: mother of a teenager and assassin for hire. One day, she refuses to carry out a mission and ends up picking an inevitable fight with the gang that hires her.
The feature was written and directed by Byun Sung-hyun and still does not have a set date for streaming.
4. The Killer
Directed by David Fincher and starring Michael Fassbender, Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Tilda Swinton and Brazilian actress Sophie Charlotte, The Killer tells the story of an assassin who, after making a mistake with disastrous consequences, has to face those who hired him in an international manhunt.
The work is signed by Andrew Kevin Walker and based on the homonymous comic book by Alexis Nolent. The prediction is that The Killer releases on November 10th on Netflix.
3. Leave The World Behind
Another Netflix thriller coming to streaming later this year is Leave The World Behind, written and directed by Sam Esmail. The film tells the story of a mysterious blackout that happens on Long Island. The more time passes, the more dangerous the situation becomes.
With that in mind, each family must devise a strategy to survive as they try to find a place in a collapsing world.
Based on the book of the same name by Rumaan Alam, the film opens on December 8 and stars Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans and Kevin Bacon
2. Luther: Nightfall
In this sequence of Luther, brilliant detective John Luther (Idris Elba) is behind bars, bitter over his failure to capture the cybernetic psychopath haunting the city. Thinking about it, he decides to escape from prison to go after the criminal, whatever the cost.
Written by Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne, the film also features Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and Dermot Crowley in the cast.
Luther: Nightfall hits Netflix on March 10.
1. Monkey Man
Another film that still does not have a confirmed date for streaming, but promises to please thriller fans is Monkey Manwritten and directed by Dev Patel (Who wants to be a millionaire?).
The production mixes comedy, action and suspense and tells the story of an unlikely hero who, after leaving prison, finds a world dominated by corporate greed. Angered, he goes out in search of revenge and intends to rescue everything that was stolen from him one day.
