This new installment in the horror franchise initiated by Sam Raimi, directed by Lee Cronin, tells the story of two estranged sisters, whose reunion is interrupted by the appearance of demons.

The fifth part ofevil Dead is revealed in a first trailer. Co-produced by Sam Raimi – at the initiative of the saga in 1981 – Evil Dead Rise tells the story of two estranged sisters, whose reunion is interrupted by the appearance of flesh-eating demons, the Deadites.

Written and directed by Lee Cronin, this new film is announced, according to this first trailer, more gore and demonic than the original trilogy of Sam Raimi. Neither really a sequel nor a remake of the franchise, Evil Dead Rise wants to be “a completely different Evil Dead film” according to Bruce Campbell, interpreter of the flagship character of Ash Williams.

“People can call it whatever they want: a sequel, a remake, a reimagining. It’s really just another whole Evil Dead movie. It’s centered around the book. It’s all about the Necronomicon,” had specified the actor in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in July 2021.

Release scheduled for April 19

If the first films of Sam Raimi’s trilogy starred Bruce Campbell, the 64-year-old actor will not be starring in this fifth installment this time, like the reboot of Evil Dead in 2013 imagined by Fede Alvarez. The interpreter of Ash Williams will however be the executive producer of the film alongside Sam Raimi.

Casting side Evil Dead Rise stars Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols and Nell Fisher. This new version of the horror saga is scheduled for cinemas in France on April 19, 2023.
