At the moment, the exact number of victims is unknown.
The passenger vehicle was heading from the town of San Martín towards Tumbes, both in the north of the country.
The supervisory body for land transport services in Peru (SUTRAN) regretted the loss of human life in the accident and added that “Sutran continues with the investigations established within the framework of its powers, and coordination with the institutions involved to in order to determine the responsibilities of the case”.
He added that the injured bus had the Compulsory Insurance against Traffic Accidents, Vehicle Technical Inspection Certificate and authorization from the Ministry of Transportation.
