This week The Old Way has its American cinema premiere, but we have to continue to wait for Nicolas Cage’s first western film as it has not yet received a Swedish premiere date. In connection with the premiere, Collider has posted an exclusive film clip via Twitter, where Colton Briggs (Cage) and his daughter find themselves in a tight spot with three gunmen. A showdown later, Briggs is victorious, but when one of the gentlemen threatens to kill his daughter, it soon becomes clear who raised her. She is just as cruel as her father.
Judging by the clip, this could be a brutal story, and it’s also got an R rating in the US for a lot of bloody showdowns. It looks like the film will reflect that dark and violent we associate with the Old West, where people were forced to use any means necessary to survive. Dare we believe in something like True Grit and Bone Tomahawk?
