Around 6 p.m. yesterday (the last day of 2022) the fire completely destroyed a house in the Nueva Cecilia neighborhood of Candelaria, whose owners are an elderly couple.
The neighbors of the victims were outraged because, according to what they told El Territorio, they got tired of “calling the volunteer firefighters” and “they didn’t come”, it was they, together with the police, who with pans managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other houses that they are very close to each other.
Rocío Dos Santos, one of the people who helped said “it is a shame that for the second time in a short time and due to the lack of a driver, according to what they told us, the volunteer firefighters are not helping a family that was miraculously saved because a neighbor he got into the house with fire to get the old people out who live there”.
“The ambulance arrived, the police and the firemen arrived when everything burned down. I think it’s outrageous,” he said, recalling that “another house in another neighborhood burned down recently and the same thing happened, the ones who took action were the neighbors and the firefighters They came when there was nothing left to do, and three lives were lost in that moment.”
“Those things cannot happen, it’s incredible that they don’t solve the issue of the driver,” said the neighbor who was applauded by a large number of neighbors who came to help.

Ramón Da Silva, who risked his life to get the elderly out of the house, said that “I was preparing my mate when I saw the smoke, I ran and saw that the house was on fire. the people inside, it was a difficult time because the man did not want help, he wanted to save his belongings. I took the lady out and the man went back inside while the flames were advancing. I took him with force with my arms and pulled him out again “.
“The heat was hellish and the smoke was choking me, just when I put it to safety the fire came out the door. By a miracle I managed to save them and myself,” he admitted, although he complained that “the firefighters had not arrived on time , but only when everything burned down”.
The house was completely burned down and the owners were taken by ambulance to the local hospital to be examined as they were very excited because they kept what they were wearing.
