In principle, it is only a matter of time before Cristiano Ronaldo signs at Al Nassr FC. The 37-year-old Portuguese was in Saudi Arabia before the Christmas holidays to attend talks with the club’s management.
After opportunities for the megastar at top European clubs were smashed, Ronaldo has now made friends with the transfer to the desert state. In addition to a salary volume of 200 million euros, CR7 also has an ambassador role with a view to Saudi Arabia’s World Cup application for 2030.
“A lie”
In the kingdom, however, nobody wants to hear anything about the basic agreement with Ronaldo. Al Nassr President Musli Al-Muammar drastically denied the reports on Monday evening yesterday: “The rumors surrounding Ronaldo are not true and most of what has been written and said in the media is a lie.”
Sports director Marcelo Salazar also contradicted the previous reports, but was a little more diplomatic: “I can’t say yes or no. We’ll have to wait and see how things develop before the end of the year. They must know that this is a negotiation of enormous importance.” For this reason, those responsible at Al Nassr want to exercise discretion for the time being. At the turn of the year, however, there should be final clarity.
