Steamforged Games, the team behind the Monster Hunter World: The Board Game and Resident Evil board games (and most recently Gears of War: The Card Game), have now announced their newest project, Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game.

It builds on its predecessor, which raised over 44 million kroner on Kickstarter, and in the game 1-4 players must fight together in strategic card battles to hunt arctic beasts. The new territory battle mechanic can mean that the hunt is interrupted by other monsters that can attack players as much as their territorial rivals.

As usual in the Monster Hunter series, it is based on defeating monsters and crafting better equipment to take on bigger enemies. Mat Hart, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Steamforged Games, says:

“We’re beyond excited to continue our journey through the Monster Hunter: World universe. There are many big fans of Monster Hunter on the team, and it’s been a pleasure seeing how positively the first board game has been received as an authentic and faithful adaptation.

Now, we’re dedicated to bringing Iceborne to life on the tabletop in a way that does equal justice to the unique experience of hunting monsters through the frozen wastes. Get your Clutch Claws ready!”

Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game campaign is released via Steamforged Games Kickstarter-sida on May 18.
