The Santa Fe Provincial Symphony Orchestradependent on the Ministry of Culture, will propose in its 2023 season a different concert from the ones it usually presents.
The meeting will take place on Friday 28 at the Provincial Cultural Center (Junín 2457, Santa Fe), at 9:00 p.m., with free and free entry and will be titled “A Night of Great Impact”.

The concert will be presented by the orchestra percussion row and will bring an innovative musical proposal. The conduction of the meeting will be in charge of the timbales soloist of the Symphony, Pablo Bagilet, who will also be one of the interpreters and will work together with the percussionist teachers Julián Macedo and Federico Figueróa Sguario, stable members of the artistic organization. As guest musicians, Francisco Vergara, Andrea García, Josefina Puebla, Rafael Duré, Lucía Ciccazzo and Federico Sgarbanti will participate.

In a program dominated by rhythm, you will be able to listen to works by authors such as Bissell, Rouse, Peck, Ford, Zivkovic and Bagilet himself.

RE PERCUSSION PARTICIPANTS

Pablo Bagilet

A native of Santa Fe, he received his BA and MA in percussion from the University of Georgia and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He was a scholarship holder and teaching assistant at both institutions. In the United States, he served as Professor of Percussion at Hillsdale College and Saginaw Valley State University. He was a member of the Academic Orchestra of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, principal percussionist of the Midland Symphony (USA) and timpanist of the Wuhan Philharmonic (China). He was also a contract percussionist with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic, Augusta Symphony (Georgia, USA) and Lansing Symphony (Michigan, USA). He received as an award the Prize for Cultural Excellence of the Nation (Argentina). Currently, he is soloist timbale and leader of the Entre Ríos Symphony, of the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Santa Fe, and tenured professor in the percussion chair of the Higher Institute of Music of the UNL. He designs and uses Martorelli Mallets timpani sticks built by luthier Sergio Martorelli.

Julian Macedo

Born in 1987 in the city of Santa Fe, he has been a percussionist with the Santa Fe Provincial Symphony Orchestra since 2003. He began his percussion studies at the Music School No. 9,901 with Marcelo Heer and later with Pablo Bagilet. He completed his training in France. First at the Strasbourg Conservatory, where he specialized in keyboard percussion instruments with Emmanuel Séjourné, and then he graduated from the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory with an orientation in contemporary music under Professor Eve Payeur.

Federico Figueroa

He began his musical studies at the School of Music No. 9,901 in the province of Santa Fe, as a member of the Children’s Orchestra, Youth Band and later in the Santa Fe Youth Orchestra. At age 11 he was invited for the first time with the Santa Fe Provincial Symphony Orchestra as reinforcement. At the age of 17, he auditioned for said organization, ranking first in the position of reinforcements and substitutes, until he was 21 years old when he competed and became a regular in the position of row percussion of the Santa Fe Symphony. In addition to his symphonic career, he has studies in African-American percussion and has participated in many different popular music projects.

Francisco Vergara

He is a substitute timpanist and percussionist of the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Entre Ríos since 2016 due to an antecedent and opposition contest, interim substitute timpanist of the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Santa Fe since 2023, timpanist of the Chamber Orchestra of the National University of the Coast (UNL), Head of Practical Work of the Chair of Percussion at UNL, and thesis student at UNA. He has studied with Arturo Vergara, Tristán Taboada, Marcos Serrano, Nick Woud, Gustavo Gimeno, Marcos Cabezas, and Pablo Bagilet. He has served in different Argentine organizations.

Lucía Ciccazzo

He finished his studies at the School of Music No. 9,901 in 2021. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Music with a Percussion orientation at the Higher Institute of Music of UNL. He participated in several concerts with different stable casts from the Province of Santa Fe such as: Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Santa Fe, Municipal Band and Provincial Polyphonic Choir of Santa Fe. His participation in the International Percussion Festivals as part of the percussion ensemble stands out of the ISM-UNL and as timpanist of the Youth Orchestra of SOIJAr in the framework of the 58th Festival “Septiembre Musical”.

Federico Sgarbanti

He completed his formal studies at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral, obtaining a Bachelor of Music with a Percussion orientation. He has developed as a drummer and percussionist, highlighting his time with the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Santa Fe and the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Entre Ríos, the Piazzolla 100 Years Orchestra, Paraná Big Band, Marcia Müller Trio and Quintet and the National University Percussion Ensemble of the Coast, among others. He has a lot of experience in national and international recordings and tours. Since 2016 she has been a percussion teacher at the Autonomous University of Entre Ríos (UADER) and at the Military Aviation School of Entre Ríos (EAM).

Andrea Garcia

She has a degree in Percussion and Composition, graduated from the Higher Institute of Music (ISM), UNL. She has a vast career as a professional percussionist, having participated on numerous occasions as reinforcement music in the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Santa Fe and in the Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Entre Ríos; she was a substitute in the percussion row during the 2021 season at the Rosario Provincial Symphony Orchestra; and currently she is a timpanist in the Santa Fe Symphonic Band and a percussionist in the Rafaela Municipal Band.

Josephine Puebla

Born in the city of Santa Fe, he began his studies in orchestral percussion in 2016 at the Higher Institute of Music of the National University of the Coast (ISM – UNL), receiving guidance from his teacher and mentor Pablo Bagilet. In 2022 she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Music with Percussion Orientation. She worked in the ISM-UNL Percussion Ensemble, actively participating in various presentations such as the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th International Percussion Festival. She participated in various training activities with internationally renowned percussionists. She has gained experience in different orchestras, ensembles, and symphony groups.

Rafael Dure

He was born in Nogoyá, Entre Ríos and is currently based in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. At twenty-six years of age he develops as a musician, producer, percussionist and drummer. He has experience and studies in the aforementioned fields. He is currently finishing his degree in music with a percussion orientation at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral. He has participated in different musical groups and organizations, being the founder of the cultural project “Mamma jam” developed in the city of Santa Fe.
