Indie developer ProX has released a new game on Steam called “The Hidden and Unknown“which has a cost of $1,999.90 dollars and lasts less than two hours.
There are all kinds of expensive games on Steam, but The Hidden and Unknown’s ridiculous $1,999.90 price tag makes it the most expensive game on Valve’s digital store.
Unsurprisingly, the price of The Hidden and Unknown on Steam is going to be prohibitive for many players who won’t be able to afford such a high price.
The game, which went on sale on January 23, currently only has two user reviews. Both reviews recommend the game, one stating that it is “worth every penny” and the other that he would buy it again, giving it a score of 10/10.
After contacting The Hidden and Unknown developer ProX to find out exactly why the decision was made to price the game at almost $2,000. ProX explained that the price of the game was “the one that seemed right to them”, and that they were “within their right” to do so.
However, they noted that since players are likely to complete The Hidden and Unknown in two hours, users should be able to request a refund for their purchase. “[…] you can finish the whole story and then ask for a refund for the game to make sure you don’t feel ripped off for your money,” ProX said.
