Miami Dade College is the best way to educate yourself and undertake

As the school semester ends in our Miami-Dade County schools, we welcome an exciting new season, in which we will have unique opportunities for every student to enjoy the opening of Miami Dade College summer camps .

Every summer we welcome hundreds of teenagers, pre-teens and children from the community who participate in the camps arranged at each of the campuses. Held in state-of-the-art facilities and covering diverse disciplines, from video game animation to learning CSI techniques, MDC’s exclusive summer camps are unmatched in variety, quality and fun.

Parents should not miss this opportunity in a safe and comfortable environment for their children, where they explore new skills and learn new knowledge. All of them, from the little ones, who increasingly impress us with their achievements.

I take this opportunity to congratulate our little Sharks Sharks for their VPK graduation that recently took place on the North Campus under Exploration Station, a preschool program focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics that we have available at MDC.

The STEM field is precisely one of the highlights in the camps that include robotics, teen entrepreneurship, introduction to healthcare careers, game design, e-commerce, financial trading and cryptography, SAT preparation, improvisational theater, intelligence artificial and for the first time, a two-week esports camp.

The Homestead campus will offer the free program (STEM WAVE) for six weeks for high school students ages 14 to 17.

Technology camps are also being very popular at our School of Engineering and Technology (EnTec). Each program ranges from CyberCamp until Drone Control and Programminggoing by All Hands-on Tech, Electric Vehicles y The Apple Swift Experience, among many others, offering a unique learning opportunity. They take place from Monday to Friday at the Hialeah, Homestead, Kendall, North, Padrón, Oeste and Wolfson campuses. They are free and students must apply for a scholarship.

For its part, the Miami Animation and Video Game Complex (MAGIC) encourages children and teenagers to become the next generation of developers, animators, video game designers, programmers and mixed reality creators. The center’s programs include Camp Esports and the Three-Dimensional Game Design and Animation Camp, both held at the Wolfson Campus in the downtown of Miami. The instructor body is made up of renowned technology educators, successful artists, and industry professionals passionate about sharing knowledge.

As every year, the Kendall Campus offers programs for students from ages 7 to 17. Among the activities are acting, cooking, cartoons and comics, dance fitness, jewelry design, sports, swimming, LEGO robotics, art digital, SAT preparation and much more.

And for soon-to-be graduating high school seniors, they will be able to take advantage of two certification opportunities on the MDC Medical Campus: Pre-College Electrocardiography Technician (EKG) and Certified Pre-College Patient Care Technician (CPCT). Students who complete the program will receive diplomas.

We wish all students in the community and their families a summer full of joy, fun and, above all, learning, that they live unique experiences that they will remember forever, to begin a new school year energized.
