BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — A teenager opened fire at a school in central Belgrade on Wednesday, injuring several, Serbian police said.

Police received a tip of the shooting at the Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School at around 8:40 a.m., they said in a statement.

The suspect, a 7th grader, was taken into custody, according to police. The minor appeared to have fired several shots with his father’s weapon at other students and the center guard, he added in the statement.

Serbian media indicated that the guard had been killed in the shooting. Police did not provide further details.

Vladislav Ribnikar School is located in the very center of Belgrade. primary schools in Serbia have eight grades.
