The leader of the PRO, Patricia Bullrich, thoroughly analyzed the political landscape in Argentina in a one-on-one interview with La Nación, where she was firm about her candidacy for president and touched on various issues involved in the face of this year’s elections.
One of the first inquiries was about his relationship with Javier Milei, who is also signing up for the race to try to get voters to support his ideas. Bullrich assured that with the political leader of Libertad Avanza, she “will not get together”, since she belongs to the space of Together for Change. “That does not mean that, in the future, if we win the election and we are the government, we are going to need parliamentary majorities from Together for Change. We are going to need to add votes in Congress to approve the laws that are needed. And it would be good to agree with the bench of Javier Milei based on ideas, and not based on exchanges”, he summarized.
In turn, another issue was that his path has nothing to do with the figure of Mauricio Macri, who will not be a candidate: “I do not expect Mauricio Macri’s support. It is his decision. I go ahead. I built teams, with the same way of thinking. And I’m going to continue without expecting anything”.
Also, within the context of the elections that will take place in 2023, he warned that “no I know who I’m going to face in the ballotage. Together for Change is clearly in the second round and with a chance of winning. We are withholding the vote. And I think that, when our candidate is defined, we will have a process of growth. But a firm and consistent candidate is needed.”
Lastly, he referred to the country’s economic context in terms of inflation and how this could be related to the names that Peronism may come up with: “The only way Peronism has to prevent its votes from dispersing is to Cristina Kirchner as a candidate. Even with Cristina Kirchner as a candidate, it will be very difficult for them to sustain the votes, because the social anguish is terrible, due to inflation, due to insecurity.”
