CDMX.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador accused the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, of being inhumane and anti-Christian for sending migrants in terrible conditions to the house of the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.

“But there is also an anti-immigrant group in the United States like the Governor of Texas, who is blamed for this truck business. This man may even go to church or read the Bible, but in reality he is very inhumane, and very anti-Christian, because this is not done.

“How at midnight, with all the cold, migrants are going to be left. I celebrate what the associations do because they are already aware of this type of baseness, of these conservative and corrupt politicians. So, they are already waiting for the trucks and they take migrants to give them care, but it is the situation they are experiencing,” said López Obrador.

On Christmas Eve, buses with undocumented immigrants arrived near the residence of Vice President Kamala Harris, in charge of immigration issues.

A group of migrants was dropped off in front of Harris’ Washington home on Christmas Eve when temperatures were minus 7 degrees. Some of the undocumented were wearing only T-shirts.

Aid organizations gave them blankets and put them on another bus to a local church.

On December 15, two buses full of undocumented immigrants coming from the Mexican border were also unloaded near Harris’s home as part of the battle over the government’s immigration policies.

The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has sent dozens of buses with migrants to states governed by Democrats this year as a form of protest against the immigration policy of President Joe Biden.

This morning, in a conference at the National Palace, President López Obrador assured that in his meeting in January with Biden he will propose that there be a support program for the countries with the greatest poverty and thus do not see themselves in the need to migrate.

“So, now that President Biden will be with us, we are going to deal with the issue in a structural way. We are proposing that there be a support program for the countries with the most poverty, with the most need, so that people are not forced to migrate And we already have some examples of how it does work to offer options to those who are forced to opt for migration, if there are welfare programs they stay and we already have evidence.

“Because with few resources Mexico is helping Central American countries, we are with Honduras, Salvador, Guatemala, and we have made evaluations, and we know that with two programs that we have applied, Sembrando Vida and Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro, we have managed to keep people in their communities of origin,” he added.
