Mexico City.– The interpreter of Fay Furillo on NBC’s Hill Street Blues, Barbara Bosson, died last Saturday at the age of 83, her son Jesse Bochco released the news this Monday through social networks.

Bosson is remembered for her roles in the 1980s, which earned her multiple Emmy nominations. For her performance on Hill Street Blues, she earned Best Supporting Actress nominations for the first five consecutive years of her run on the series. In 1990 she starred in the series Murder One which would also bring her an Emmy nomination in 1996.

From 1970 to 1997 she was married to the co-creator of both series Steven Bochco with whom she had two children, Melissa and Jesse. Barbara acknowledged on several occasions that she got her roles mainly from her husband, so when he was fired from Hill Street Blues, she wanted to continue her role to show that she didn’t need him.

Her son Jesse Bochco assured the Los Angeles Times that the actress “died peacefully and surrounded by her family and loved ones” although the cause of her death was not disclosed.

The actress was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, in 1939, in 1968 she had her first film role in Bullitt, a Steve McQueen crime thriller. The star is survived by her son, a daughter and two grandchildren.
