The Italian actress has passed away at the age of 95. This is reported by the ANSA news agency.

As the ANSA news agency reports, Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida has died at the age of 95. She became known in 1952 alongside Gerard Philipe with the film “Fanfan, the Hussar”. But she has been involved in various productions since the 1940s. In total, she appeared in front of the camera 70 times alongside cinema legends such as Anthony Quinn and Humphrey Bogart. Not only did she rise to the status of a film icon in her native Italy, but also internationally – alongside Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale. She was even considered the “most beautiful woman in the world”. She still needed surgery in September 2022 for a broken thigh after falling in her home.

Gina Lollobrigida: “I don’t deserve to be humiliated like this!

In the recent past, the Lollobrigidas family was the focus of interest, because a bitter dispute had developed here, which the film icon addressed in a TV interview in 2021. Her son Milco had arranged for her to be assigned a guardian by a court, which also prevented Gina Lollobrigida from managing her own finances in the future. In the interview, she became emotional, as the newspaper “Welt” reported, among other things, and explained: “I don’t deserve to be so humiliated. At my age I should actually have a little peace. But I don’t have that. I’m tired. I should be allowed to die in peace.” Despite all this, she still stood for the parliamentary elections in Italy last year. She ran for the protest party Italia Sovrana e Populare, which advocates leaving the EU and NATO.
