Superstar Selena Gomez (30) recently appeared in a live broadcast on her own TikTok account.

Over the years, Gomez has received a number of nasty comments about her body and appearance.

It is especially the weight of the artist that is much discussed.

Diagnosis

In 2014, Gomez was diagnosed with lupus – a chronic autoimmune disease with side effects such as swelling, fatigue and joint pain.

Gomez underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, as a result of the disease.

In the documentary “My Mind & Me”, the 30-year-old revealed that her illness contributed to several years of excruciating pain.

– My medicines are important

On TikTok, the 30-year-old says that the weight changes are due to her lupus medication.

– When I take the medicine, I tend to put on a lot of “water weight”. When I stop the medication I tend to lose weight again, explains Gomez in the video.

The 30-year-old says that despite the fact that the comments are a big burden on her mental health, she would rather take the medication to stay healthy.

– Yes, there are days when I feel like shit, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medicines are important and I think they are the ones helping me.

Stick to the haters

In the video, she thanked the fans who have supported her since she was diagnosed, and takes a jab at the haters.

– Thank you for supporting me and understanding. If not, walk away. I have nothing left for people who engage in “body shaming”, she says and continues:

– I am not a model. I will never be.

Furthermore, she encourages her followers who are going through the same course of illness to focus on their own health.

– I want people to know that they are beautiful and wonderful, she says in the video.
